The RecyH2O feasibility study, carried out as part of the “Water and Wastewater Management” environmental protection export initiative, represents a significant step towards tackling wastewater problems in Côte d’Ivoire. The aim of this study is to highlight the potential and risks for the introduction of the innovative solution from FlexBio Technologie GmbH – FlexBio-AFBBM – and to identify potential areas of application. In addition, obstacles such as technical adaptability, regulatory framework conditions and acceptance of the technology by the target groups are analyzed.
In Côte d’Ivoire, considerable quantities of untreated wastewater are discharged into the natural environment. This inadequate wastewater disposal has serious ecological consequences and poses a threat to the environment and the health of the population. Wastewater has so far been considered a waste product and the lack of local solutions has meant that little attention has been paid to this problem.
FlexBio: A sustainable solution
FlexBio Technologie GmbH has developed an innovative process that enables efficient wastewater treatment and simultaneously generates energy from wastewater. By reusing the treated wastewater and reducing wastewater disposal costs, FlexBio helps to conserve resources and offers a sustainable solution to the wastewater problems in Côte d’Ivoire.
The RecyH2O feasibility study identifies various obstacles such as technical adaptability and regulatory framework conditions that could stand in the way of a successful introduction of FlexBio technology. Analyzing these risks makes it possible to develop suitable strategies to overcome these challenges and facilitate the implementation of the technology.
Opportunities for sustainable development
The FlexBio project and the RecyH2O feasibility study not only contribute to solving the wastewater crisis, but also support the sustainability goals of the 2030 Agenda, in particular Goal 6 for clean water and safe sanitation. By creating innovative infrastructures and raising awareness among the population, they are making an important contribution to the sustainable development of Côte d’Ivoire.
Cooperation with local partners and raising awareness among the population are crucial to the success of this initiative. The benefits of FlexBio technology can be communicated and awareness of sustainable wastewater treatment raised through targeted training and information events. In addition, the involvement of local stakeholders enables a customized implementation of the technology that takes into account the specific needs and conditions on site.
FlexBio Technologie GmbH and the RecyH2O feasibility study show that sustainable solutions to the wastewater problems in Côte d’Ivoire are possible. By working with local partners, raising awareness among the population and overcoming potential obstacles, we can take an important step towards a cleaner and healthier environment.
