Our company and, above all, our employees are fully committed to the products we manufacture and to our mission. Why? Because we care about the climate, sustainability and a perspective view into a green future. At FlexBio, we believe climate protection starts with water. We would like to tell you here why this is so.
1. protection of peatlands
Peatlands and water are, of course, closely linked – without water they dry out. For our climate, the protection as well as the development of peatlands is essential, because they store twice the amount of carbon dioxide compared to forest areas. In addition, they store a lot of liquid, which protects the earth from droughts, but also from flooding. In addition to storing water volumes, they also filter it without consuming energy (similar to our anaerobic wastewater treatment plants).
2. water treatment
Many companies and individuals assume that water treatment is rather harmful to climate change: a lot of energy and a large amount of greenhouse gases. This does not have to be. With anaerobic wastewater treatment, water recycling can be done without much energy, instead with increased energy efficiency. In addition, the purification of wastewater ensures the sustainable use of water as an important resource and thus counteracts the shortage of drinking water.
3. the wide world of oceans
Oceans store heat, trap greenhouse gases and control weather patterns – enough reasons to protect the world’s oceans and seas. Incidentally, they also provide our elixir of life: oxygen. Around 50 percent of oxygen is produced as a byproduct in the oceans. Due to climate change, many seas are suffering, so it should become the credo of all of us to protect them and thus the plant and animal species that live there.
4. rain
The fact that the weather is changing is unlikely to have passed anyone by by now. In one place, there are complaints of too little rain, while in another place there is extreme flooding.
5. groundwater
Groundwater is more than just the basis of our drinking water supply. It also serves as a vast habitat for more than 100,000 species of organisms. These clean the water reservoir for our soils, our animals, our plants and of course for us humans. Unfortunately, groundwater in many areas (including Germany) is in poor condition due to chemicals and high nitrate levels, for example, from agricultural pesticides. Even more emphasis needs to be placed on sustainability and the climate in the fields.
